Oreo Case Study: SXSW Pedicab Advertising

Our Mission

Oreo requested a SXSW pedicab advertising campaign that included 100 branded pedicabs across two companies, with 25 pedicabs giving free rides for 8 hours daily for half the duration of South by Southwest. All 100 drivers were to be given multiple performance quality material Oreo branded t-shirts for all ten days of the SXSW festival.


Our Solution

Pedicab United dispatched 25 pedicabs for free rides for 8 hours daily for the first five days of the festival. Drivers pedaled on Oreo branded pedicabs from 11am to 7pm and took conference goers to their destinations free of charge as a surprise treat from Oreo. Drivers were given the directive to use the phrase “Oreo has got this ride for you,” or “This ride is on Oreo.”


The Results

The Oreo pedicab ride phenomenon quickly caught fire on social media on the very first day, as all Oreo bikes were being sought out for free rides. Drivers continued on to impress the brand on the public for hours before and after the dedicated ride as the high demand for rides remained during all operating hours of SXSW.

100 pedicabs were emblazoned with Oreo’s branding, and the drivers were given matching T-shirts.

8,000 Hours On Display

These outdoor advertisements for Oreo were on display for over 8000 hours during the South By Southwest pedicab advertising campaign.

1,000 Hours of Free Rides

For 8 hours a day, 25 of the Oreo branded pedicabs gave free rides as a surprise treat.

600 Thousand Impressions

Over the course of the Austin based festival, over 600,000 impressions were made on festival goers and locals alike.

25,000 Miles Cycled

An environmentally friendly form of transport, as well as effective outdoor advertising, these pedicabs traveled 25,000 miles without use of fossil fuels.
